DefectThe teeth of the mechanical park brake pawl and ratchet can wear abnormally fast and may degrade possibly resulting in a loss of grip upon engagement of the handbrake. In the unlikely event of the hand brake lever self dis-engaging due to abnormal wear of the parts it can lead to an unexpected movement of the tractor.
RemedyReplace either the hand brake lever assembly or for speciality ranges of tractors the hand brake lever pawl due to a different design of the part.
