DefectBMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2026 228i Gran Coupe, 228i xDrive Gran Coupe, and M235i xDrive Gran Coupe vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with rear lights that may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, Lamps, reflective devices, and assoc. equipment."_x000D_ A rear taillight, brake light, or rear turn signal light that functions improperly, increases the risk of a crash.
RemedyDealers will replace the rear lights, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 27, 2026. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 27, 2026.
