DefectAlthough the vehicle was originally delivered with a steering wheel not equipped with a TAKATA airbag, it has been confirmed that customers may have installed a Sport or M Sport steering wheel equipped with a TAKATA airbag, which is an approved replacement part from BMW, after delivery. This steering wheel is equipped with an airbag inflator using ammonium nitrate, and the compressed gas propellant inside the inflator may have degraded when the vehicle was exposed to high-temperature and high-humidity areas for a long period.
