DefectPark Assist ECU (Japan Used Import): The subject Japanese used import vehicles are equipped with a Parking Assist ECU, which is a component of the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system that displays the rearview image. The software in this ECU may cause (1) the rearview image to freeze briefly during the backing event if reverse is selected within a specific time after ignition is turned on; or (2) the rearview image not to display on the next ignition on if the ignition is turned on and off within a specific time, which may increase the risk of a crash with a person during a backing event.
