DefectAt continuous rotational speeds exceeding 10000 rpm, the spring in the non-return valve of the timing chain tensioner may break. The broken pieces will then migrate via the oil circuit into the oil sump. In some cases, broken pieces may reach the camshaft bearings against the oil flow. This can cause brief jamming of the camshaft and result in further damage to the valve gear.
