| Defect | Due to a manufacturing defect, liquid may enter the electrical water pump connectors. This could cause an electrical short circuit leading to a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property. |
| Remedy | Owners should immediately contact their preferred authorised BMW dealer to schedule an appointment to have the plug connector inspected and if necessary replaced. All work is completed free of charge. |
