DefectOn certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system to enter a failsafe mode. If this happens, the windshield defroster may not work properly._x000D_ Note: This problem could cause an "EV System Malfunction" or "Drive Start Control Malfunction" message to display._x000D_ A windshield defroster that doesn't work properly could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

RemedySubaru will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the HVAC system electronic control unit software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the electrical compressor.
