DefectDue to an improper manufacturing process on the engine hood, some rivet stud bolts securing the striker are not properly crimped. As a result, wind pressure on the hood during high-speed driving applies stress to the crimped part of the bolt, causing the bolt to loosen and generate abnormal noise due to vibration. If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, in the worst case, the latch may be damaged, and the hood may open and detach.
ComponentEngine hood (striker mounting bolt)
RemedyFor all vehicles, inspect the hood striker, and if it is not properly crimped, repair the striker mounting area. If repair is not possible, remove the rivet stud bolt and change the mounting method to a bracket system.
