Citroën driver airbag propellant may alter, affecting airbag deployment
| Country | New Zealand |

| Category | Automotive |
| Published | 2025-08-01 |
| Models affected | C4, DS4, DS5 |
| Model year | 2011-2019 |
| Defect | Non-desiccated PSAN (Phase Stabilized Ammonium Nitrate) was used as a propellant the driver airbag. This propellant may experience alteration over time and exposure to very high temperature amplitudes / humidity. This may cause it to generate gas faster than designed when the airbag inflator is deployed during a crash. Such potentially higher energetic deployment might lead to metallic fragments detached from the bursting inflator and these parts could fly in the direction of the driver / occupants in the vehicle, capable of causing serious injury or death in a worst-case scenario |
| Remedy | Stop driving the vehicle immediately and have the necessary airbags replaced. |
