| Defect | Due to a software issue in the transmission control module, if the brake pedal is firmly depressed to stop the vehicle the clutch for the engine and electric motor may remain disengaged during deceleration. If this occurs, power from the engine or electric motor may not be transmitted when the accelerator pedal is depressed. If power is not transmitted from the engine or electric motor when the accelerator pedal is depressed, it may increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users. |
| Remedy | Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mazda Australia requesting that they schedule an appointment at their preferred Mazda dealer to update the calibration for the transmission control module, free of charge. |
