| Defect | Due to a manufacturing defect, gears inside the rear axle drivetrain may have not been welded to the required specifications and could break. As a result, the vehicle may experience loss of propulsion whilst driving._x000D_ In addition, the parking lock may not operate as intended. This could result in the vehicle moving or rolling away whilst engaged in park position. A loss of propulsion whilst driving and/or if the vehicle moves from its parked position while unattended this could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and other road users. |
| Remedy | Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz asking them to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge. |
