| Defect | Due to a manufacturing issue, the right and/or left curtain airbag/s may be fitted with a faulty gas generator. As a result, the airbags may not deploy as intended. In the event of airbag deployment during an accident, the curtain airbag/s may not provide adequate protection for vehicle occupants which could increase the risk of injury or death. |
| Remedy | Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volkswagen Group Australia to schedule an appointment with their nearest authorised Volkswagen dealership to have the work carried out, free of charge. |
